For this project I created a hypothetical event/lecture around Oblique Strategies by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt. Oblique Strategies is a set of cards designed to jog your mind into thinking outside the box. The poster is a stack of puzzle pieces and a poster size white grid. In order to solve the puzzle, you must extend the pieces beyond the grid. On the back of the puzzle pieces are lateral thinking word problems. The invitation is a folding puzzle. In order to discover the time and date of the event, you must solve the puzzle. Finally, the event itself is a message to decode. Each participant gets an envelope with the message and a symbol on the back. Other people also receive certain clues and pieces of the cypher wheel. You cannot solve the puzzle alone. Everyone must work together to decode the message. The message is encrypted with a combination of a substitution and Vigenere cipher.
